Dear Pre-Paid Legal,

I would like to give you my deepest thanks for your assistance in resolving a very aggravating matter dealing with my bank, or should I say former bank.

Making a move to another state is a headache in itself, but when we started experiencing problems with our new bank, we decided we didn't need that stress. So we closed our account. We then opened a new account at another bank. Later, our previous bank claimed we owed them money. Even though we had proof that we did not, they persisted to try and collect. They then turned us over to a [check collection] company.

By being turned over to this company, our current bank had to close our account until the matter was resolved. This caused many problems, one of which they held our money for two weeks without us having access to it, and they said we would not be able to get an account anywhere else until this was cleared up with our first bank.

I made several attempts on my own to clear this up, which resulted in me having to stay on the phone everyday for two weeks. Having to do this, I lost two weeks of pay because I could not work. I have never been so stressed out in my life. I should have called on you sooner, but everyday I thought would be the day I could get it taken care of, especially since! had proof that nothing was owed. The breaking point was on my daughter's birthday. I could not get her a present or take her anywhere because the bank was holding our money. Finally when I contacted you, I was happy to turn over the stress and worry to you. Within a matter of days I was able to get my money and shortly after that I received an apology letter from both banks. They also said I could reopen my account - NO THANKS!
