film American Graffiti, where John Milner (played by
Paul LeMat) is asked whether he's going to chase the tuned 1955 Chevy
of Bob Falfa (a young Harrison Ford). The two square up in the final scene,
with Milner in this five-window coupe hot rod. Set in 1962 the him centres
around one night in a southern Californian town. Milner paroles the main
cruise in his 'Deuce coupe' powered by a 1966 327ci (5.3-litre) Corvette
engine with 'Fuelie' (fuel injection) heads and a Man-a-Fre quad carb
manifold. The car used a Chevy sedan rear axle with a transverse leaf
spring and ladder bars for optimum traction, while the front used the
original beam axle but kicked-up either end to lower the nose of the car.
The wheels were reversed versions of what was available on larger Chevy
sedans, but chromed here for show.
