| | FORD MODEL 81 A (1938) CAR HISTORYCar review on FORD MODEL 81 AFord were the first company to introduce a V8 in a mass
production car in the early 1930s, and they continued thanks to massive
public demand. By 1938 the engines were standard across the board, but
other manufacturers were using them too and in particular Chevy, who regularly
overtook Ford in sales. To compensate, Ford split its models into two
distinctly different version, the Deluxe and Standard. This car is the
Deluxe, shown by the grille splitting into two distinct arcs at the top,
whereas the Standard had a vertical top. Little remains of the standard
car underneath, except tor a strengthened version of the stock chassis.
A Mustang 11 wishbone suspension clip is fitted at the front, while the
rear uses leaf spring on a live axle. Its Chevy V8 has received the mildest
of tune-ups but still has plenty of power to make this a boulevard bruiser.
